THE POST: 2 x OPERATIONAL SUPPORT GRADE – (OSG)

HM Prison Dartmoor has two vacancies for Operational Support Grades.

The jobs will be based at HMP Dartmoor, and will be permanent positions.

The attached Job Specification sets out the role, duties and tasks of the job and the competencies and skills which candidates are required to have in order to be eligible to apply. The successful applicants will be based within the works department escorting contractors around the establishment

All applicants must meet the minimum eligibility requirements.

All applicants must be British or Commonwealth Citizen, a British Protected Person, an EU National or an Icelandic or Norwegian National. Some EO family members, who are not themselves EU members, may also qualify. All candidates must be free from immigration control and have indefinite leave to remain in the United Kingdom for three years.

Knowledge of a security based work would be beneficial.


Background

HM Prison Dartmoor is a category C establishment

It houses some 620 male prisoners. It has a gymnasium which staff can use, a church and various workshops for the prisoners; it also has a staff car park.

It is situated in the village of Princetown in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park. Tavistock is the nearest town, which is approx 8 miles away; Plymouth is approx 15 miles away.

It is served by a limited bus service from Tavistock/Yelverton.


CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

Salary £14,406 min - £16,947 max pa (pro rata for part time)
Hours 39 net per week excluding meal breaks
Annual Leave 22 days + 11 public/privilege holidays
Pension Pensionable – level of cover is subject to BMI screening of Health Declaration form.

HM Prison Dartmoor has vacancies for Full and Part Time Administrative Officers and Assistants. We also have a full time post to cover maternity leave for 6 months.

The job will be based at HMP Dartmoor.

The attached Job Specification sets out the role, duties and tasks of the job and the competencies and skills which candidates are required to have in order to be eligible to apply.
