Community Development Worker achieves distinction - 21/06/2010
Congratulations on Sunder Braganza for completing his final examination for his NCFE Diploma course. Sunder was one of the Community Development workers that Fata He supported throughout this course and has showed excellent achievement. On behalf of Fata He we congratulate him on obtaining his qualification and receiving a Distinction. It is worth noting that this is the highest achievement you can achieve for this course. Well done on this excellent achievement, you showed your effort and hard work throughout the course. This has been of a very high standard and we wish you all the success for the future.
BME Volunteer Of The Year - 16/08/2010

Congratulations to Manoj Joshi who was awarded the BME Volunteer of the Year Award 2010. The award was presented to Manoj by Councillor Mary Aspinall Lord Mayor in front of distinguished guests at the Guildhall. He was chosen for the work in bringing the Hindu community together every month and also the wider community at the RathYatra event last year in Plymouth. Manoj puts so much of his time, effort and voluntary contribution in organising events and was felt that he deserved the award. Well done and congratulations to Manoj Joshi. Fata He will be on the lookout for next years nominee, so if you someone who deserves this award keep in touch.
Sanjida’s Cash and Carry has reopened - 12/04/2010

Sanjida’s Cash and Carry has reopened it’s Embankment Road store to the rear of Ebrington Street opposite Jack Cham’s. After investing more than £100,000 and quadrupling in size with car parking facilities. The investment has created 3 jobs and with the scope to create more. Sanjida Cash & Carry director Shaheed Hussain said “we are delighted with the new store opening and hope to attract a diverse range of people from all over the South West. We have gone from a small store to a new large store and hope it will become a magnet for those with a distinct and varied taste for food. The new improved store opens seven days a week and has longer opening hours Mon-Sat 9am-7pm Sun 10am-5pm On sale will be fresh vegetables, Halal meat, fish and spices available to the trade and public. There will also be ready to eat vegetarian snacks on sale as well. The store was officially opened my Councillor Mary Aspinall with the support of Chaz Singh from Fata He BME Development Ltd. Remembrance Service at the Plymouth War Memorial - 13/11/2009

On Remembrance Service at the Plymouth War Memorial 8th November 2009 Chaz Singh and his children laid a wreath to remember the contribution made by the Sikh and Commonwealth Soldiers during WW1 and 2 and ongoing conflicts. Chaz said it is most important to remember the sacrifice they made. The event was attended by various dignitaries from Military and The Lord Mayor of Plymouth as well.
Kurdish Exile Centre (KEC) obtain funding for Cultural Awareness Education workshops across Plymouth - 02/11/2009
Well done to the Kurdish Exile Centre (KEC) who have been working in partnership with Fata He’s BME Funding & Training Officer Chaz Singh to obtain funding for Cultural Awareness Education workshops across Plymouth. Groups, organisations, After School Clubs and Youth Clubs will benefit from the workshops that will get them to develop a better understanding of Kurdish Life and Culture and their integration in Plymouth to create community cohesion. KEC was awarded £4,800 from Grassroots Grants and part of Devon Community Foundation (www.devoncf.com). KEC members are happy to work with Fata He and stated that without the support Fata He has given them it would not have been possible to obtain funding advice and guidance. Plymouth Rath Yatra celebration - 07/09/2009
For the first time in Plymouth Rath Yatra was celebrated in magnificent style. The event was seen by all who were in the city on 5th Sept 2009. Prasad (free blessed food) and refreshments was distributed to over 2000 people from all walks of life, near and far, young and old free. The highlight of the event was the Chariot which was involved in a procession that started from the Big Screen to Brest de Place and stopped at various points where there was singing, chanting and dancing then circled its way back to the marquee in front of the Big Screen for everybody to see. Inside the Marquee there was Singing, Chanting, Henna, Rangoli, Classical Dance, Face Painting, Sitar/Tabla Player and a Palm Reader who had come all the way from France. The event was attended by a coach from Birmingham and devotees had travelled from Watford Temple to witness the event, which were most impressed and are looking forward to Rath Yatra 2010. Manoj Joshi from the Hindu Community of Plymouth said the event was wonderful and went according to plan. He also added that he would like to thank Plymouth City Council that made this event possible. He would also like to thank Fata He for their support and were the official photographers. Other agencies that supported the event were the Diversity Unit and St John’s Ambulance
