Filipino Organisation now established - 30/07/2010

An inaugural meeting held on the 30th July 2010 at Sacred Heart’s Church has now seen the Filipino community set up their own organisation. A Chair, Secretary and Treasurer was elected, a Constitution adopted and they were now ready to deal with issues that affected them in a more empowered and structured way. A consultation was also held on the day with Crime, Health, Housing, Education and Employment being the key 5 themes for Fata He BME Development Ltd. After being asked Chaz Singh went to their assistance and was proud to be part of the Filipino community who wanted to make themselves known to the wider agencies in Torbay. It was also decided that there would be a further 2 Representatives from Dawlish, Teignmouth, Torquay and Newton Abbott. The new Chair Phil Burnard thanked Chaz Singh for his support and commitment for the group and felt that this was the right time to stand up and be heard as a community that contributes to Torbay socially and economically. At the meeting food was provided by Lynne and Helen.
