Helen Bennett
Community Support Worker (Plymouth)
Born and educated in the Plymouth area I have worked extensively within the community sector both with our minority/excluded population as well as within the wider community.
A voluntary youth support worker, I have been trained to offer advice and guidance to young people on all aspects including housing and benefit advice as well as being a sexual health worker.
My previous work includes a programme to help individuals who had newly gained their refugee status to settle and be part of the community through planned support programmes and integration thus giving me a valuable insight and understanding of other cultures and traditions, backed with my experience in Asylum work I am passionate about the rights I believe all people are entitled to and dedicated to ensuring all people have a ‘voice’. I pride myself on being open to new ideas, believing that shared ideas and views are a progressive way forward.
Currently taking a course in counselling, I joined Fata He as a community support worker to help empower individuals to take a full and active role in society whilst building bridges with other organisations to ensure services accessed by Black/Minorities are not only available to cover their needs but are of the highest quality.
