Ricardo (Ricky) Croal

Ricardo (Ricky) Croal
BME community engagement officer (Devon)

I join Fata He from Exeter Community Initiative here I ran a project called ‘Ujima’ for almost 4 years. The project was about developing and supporting the needs of Black and Minority Ethnic people and groups based in the Exeter area. Unfortunately the funding ran out but joining Fata He means I can continue some of the work.

I was born in London Brixton but moved to Exmouth Devon when mum moved. I was 4 years old. I have 2 older sisters an older brother and 2 younger sisters. I attended Exeter Road Primary School before moving onto Exmouth Comprehensive. I worked for the Devon & Cornwall constabulary for 5 ½ years in payroll and then the last year and half was as a Diversity Support officer covering East & Mid Devon. I have been involved in race equality work with the police for 6 years. This included strategic meetings, training and organising a support group for Black & Minority Ethnic staff. I also became a training member of the Devon Racial Equality Council but later joined the Executive taking up the post of Treasure. In my spare time I coach U 12’s Rugby and some Judo to all age groups as well as occasionally playing Rugby for Exmouth.
